Let Me Introduce Myself
I am Taylor Townsend, a Pre-Med Biology student at Mississippi College. I am an honors graduate of Jackson Preparatory School in Jackson, Mississippi. My parents are professional educators, Dr. and Mrs. Bill Townsend. I have one 10th grade brother named William. My parents named me TAYLOR because they believed I was TAYLORMADE to make a significant impact on my world! I seek to live up to this challenge every day of my life.
I am so thankful that Governor Phil Bryant has endorsed my TAYLORMADE passion to be a voice for those who have no voice of their own. I would like to help alleviate human trafficking through a BLUE HEART awareness campaign (created by the UNODC) throughout our beloved state of Mississippi!
Levels of Action Against Human Trafficking
• Level 1 – Awareness – educational promotion
• Level 2 – Prevention – foundational framework for action
• Level 3 – Rescue – active intervention
Taylor’s program is on the Awareness level of action. Key words in her program are aware, share, and care. Her “Aware, Share, and Care” Awareness campaign would include:
AWARE: Focus on education with a “Did You Know?” brochure, establish Mississippi campaign website, create awareness stickers as a visual reminders, promote the UN-based Blue Heart Campaign Against Human Trafficking on Facebook, and support Mississippi legislative efforts to strengthen laws against human trafficking. Become aware of the signs to look for in women and children being trafficked.
SHARE: Present a human trafficking awareness program for Mississippi schools, community organizations, churches, and service clubs; distribute information and blue heart stickers; and give people ideas of ways to promote human trafficking awareness
CARE: Encourage Mississippians of all ages to know the signs of human trafficking so they can take appropriate action such as call the National Human Resource Center hotline at 1-888-3737-888 or report to legal authorities.

- Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant endorses Taylor Townsend as spokesperson for human trafficking awareness in Mississippi.
Congressman Greg Harper recognizes Taylor Townsend’s work on the
floor United States House of Representatives.
